Martin Atkins 3c8a4e6e05 command+backend/local: -refresh-only and drift detection
This is a light revamp of our plan output to make use of Terraform core's
new ability to report both the previous run state and the refreshed state,
allowing us to explicitly report changes made outside of Terraform.

Because whether a plan has "changes" or not is no longer such a
straightforward matter, this now merges views.Operation.Plan with
views.Operation.PlanNoChanges to produce a single function that knows how
to report all of the various permutations. This was also an opportunity
to fill some holes in our previous logic which caused it to produce some
confusing messages, including a new tailored message for when
"terraform destroy" detects that nothing needs to be destroyed.

This also allows users to request the refresh-only planning mode using a
new -refresh-only command line option. In that case, Terraform _only_
performs drift detection, and so applying a refresh-only plan only
involves writing a new state snapshot, without changing any real
infrastructure objects.

Martin Atkins 1d3e34e35e command: New -replace=... planning option
This allows a similar effect to pre-tainting an object but does the action
within the context of a normal plan and apply, avoiding the need for an
intermediate state where the old object still exists but is marked as
tainted.

The core functionality for this was already present, so this commit is
just the UI-level changes to make that option available for use and to
explain how it contributed to the resulting plan in Terraform's output.

Martin Atkins b802237e03 plans: Track an optional extra "reason" for some planned actions
Previously we were repeating some logic in the UI layer in order to
recover relevant additional context about a change to report to a user.
In order to help keep things consistent, and to have a clearer path for
adding more such things in the future, here we capture this user-facing
idea of an "action reason" within the plan model, and then use that
directly in order to decide how to describe the change to the user.

For the moment the "tainted" situation is the only one that gets a special
message, matching what we had before, but we can expand on this in future
in order to give better feedback about the other replace situations too.

This also preemptively includes the "replacing by request" reason, which
is currently not reachable but will be used in the near future as part of
implementing the -replace=... plan command line option to allow forcing
a particular object to be replaced.

So far we don't have any special reasons for anything other than replacing,
which makes sense because replacing is the only one that is in a sense
a special case of another action (Update), but this could expand to
other kinds of reasons in the future, such as explaining which of the
few different reasons a data source read might be deferred until the
apply step.

Alisdair McDiarmid c89004d223 core: Add sensitive provider attrs to JSON plan
When rendering a stored plan file as JSON, we include a data structure
representing the sensitivity of the changed resource values. Prior to
this commit, this was a direct representation of the sensitivity marks
applied to values via mechanisms such as sensitive variables, sensitive
outputs, and the `sensitive` function.

This commit extends this to include sensitivity based on the provider
schema. This is in line with the UI rendering of the plan, which
considers these two different types of sensitivity to be equivalent.

Alisdair McDiarmid 68558ccd54 backend/local: Replace CLI with view instance
This commit extracts the remaining UI logic from the local backend,
and removes access to the direct CLI output. This is replaced with an
instance of a `views.Operation` interface, which codifies the current
requirements for the local backend to interact with the user.

The exception to this at present is interactivity: approving a plan
still depends on the `UIIn` field for the backend. This is out of scope
for this commit and can be revisited separately, at which time the
`UIOut` field can also be removed.

Changes in support of this:

- Some instances of direct error output have been replaced with
diagnostics, most notably in the emergency state backup handler. This
requires reformatting the error messages to allow the diagnostic
  renderer to line-wrap them;
- The "in-automation" logic has moved out of the backend and into the
  view implementation;
- The plan, apply, refresh, and import commands instantiate a view and
set it on the `backend.Operation` struct, as these are the only code
  paths which call the `local.Operation()` method that requires it;
- The show command requires the plan rendering code which is now in the
views package, so there is a stub implementation of a `views.Show`
  interface there.

Other refactoring work in support of migrating these commands to the
common views code structure will come in follow-up PRs, at which point
we will be able to remove the UI instances from the unit tests for those
commands.

Mildwonkey/providers interface renaming (#27805)
* providers.Interface: huge renamification

This commit renames a handful of functions in the providers.Interface to
match changes made in protocol v6. The following commit implements this
change across the rest of the codebase; I put this in a separate commit
for ease of reviewing and will squash these together when merging.

One noteworthy detail: protocol v6 removes the config from the
ValidateProviderConfigResponse, since it's never been used. I chose to
leave that in place in the interface until we deprecate support for
protocol v5 entirely.

Note that none of these changes impact current providers using protocol
v5; the protocol is unchanged. Only the translation layer between the
proto and terraform have changed.

Alisdair McDiarmid 2d1976bbda clistate: Update clistate.Locker for command views
The clistate package includes a Locker interface which provides a simple
way for the local backend to lock and unlock state, while providing
feedback to the user if there is a delay while waiting for the lock.
Prior to this commit, the backend was responsible for initializing the
Locker, passing through direct access to the cli.Ui instance.

This structure prevented commands from implementing different
implementations of the state locker UI. In this commit, we:

- Move the responsibility of creating the appropriate Locker to the
  source of the Operation;
- Add the ability to set the context for a Locker via a WithContext
  method;
- Replace the Locker's cli.Ui and Colorize members with a StateLocker
  view;
- Implement views.StateLocker for human-readable UI;
- Update the Locker interface to return detailed diagnostics instead of
  errors, reducing its direct interactions with UI;
- Add a Timeout() method on Locker to allow the remote backend to
continue to misuse the -lock-timeout flag to cancel pending runs.

When an Operation is created, the StateLocker field must now be
populated with an implementation of Locker. For situations where locking
is disabled, this can be a no-op locker.

This change has no significant effect on the operation of Terraform,
with the exception of slightly different formatting of errors when state
locking or unlocking fails.

Kristin Laemmert 04be220f5f deprecate helper/copy
helper/copy CopyDir was used heavily in tests. It differes from
internal/copydir in a few ways, the main one being that it creates the
dst directory while the internal version expected the dst to exist
(there are other differences, which is why I did not just switch tests
to using internal's CopyDir).

I moved the CopyDir func from helper/copy into command_test.go; I could
also have moved it into internal/copy and named it something like
CreateDirAndCopy so if that seems like a better option please let me
know.

helper/copy/CopyFile was used in a couple of spots so I moved it into
internal, at which point I thought it made more sense to rename the
package copy (instead of copydir).

There's also a `go mod tidy` included.

command/show: fix bug displaying provider config in json output of tf plan (#25577)
A lingering FIXME caused missing configuration from provider config
blocks in the json output of terraform plan. This fixes the regression
and adds a test. For the sake of testing, I added an optional attribute
to the show test provider, which resulted in the providers schema test
getting an update - not a bad addition, but we can always add a
test-specific provider schema as needed.

Martin Atkins d40085f374 command: Make the tests compile again
They still aren't passing, but this is just enough updating to make the
test program compile successfully after the refactoring related to
provider installation. They are now using the mock provider source offered
by the getproviders package, which is similar but not totally identical
to the idea of mocking the entire installer as these tests used to do, and
so many of them need further adjustment to still be testing what they
intended to test under this new architecture.

Subsequent commits will gradually repair the failing tests.

addrs: embed Provider in AbsProviderConfig instead of Type
a large refactor to addrs.AbsProviderConfig, embedding the addrs.Provider instead of a Type string. I've added and updated tests, added some Legacy functions to support older state formats and shims, and added a normalization step when reading v4 (current) state files (not the added tests under states/statefile/roundtrip which work with both current and legacy-style AbsProviderConfig strings).

The remaining 'fixme' and 'todo' comments are mostly going to be addressed in a subsequent PR and involve looking up a given local provider config's FQN. This is fine for now as we are only working with default assumption.

Initial steps towards AbsProviderConfig/LocalProviderConfig separation (#23978)
* Introduce "Local" terminology for non-absolute provider config addresses

In a future change AbsProviderConfig and LocalProviderConfig are going to
become two entirely distinct types, rather than Abs embedding Local as
written here. This naming change is in preparation for that subsequent
work, which will also include introducing a new "ProviderConfig" type
that is an interface that AbsProviderConfig and LocalProviderConfig both
implement.

This is intended to be largely just a naming change to get started, so
we can deal with all of the messy renaming. However, this did also require
a slight change in modeling where the Resource.DefaultProviderConfig
method has become Resource.DefaultProvider returning a Provider address
directly, because this method doesn't have enough information to construct
a true and accurate LocalProviderConfig -- it would need to refer to the
configuration to know what this module is calling the provider it has
selected.

In order to leave a trail to follow for subsequent work, all of the
changes here are intended to ensure that remaining work will become
obvious via compile-time errors when all of the following changes happen:
- The concept of "legacy" provider addresses is removed from the addrs
  package, including removing addrs.NewLegacyProvider and
  addrs.Provider.LegacyString.
- addrs.AbsProviderConfig stops having addrs.LocalProviderConfig embedded
in it and has an addrs.Provider and a string alias directly instead.
- The provider-schema-handling parts of Terraform core are updated to
work with addrs.Provider to identify providers, rather than legacy
  strings.

In particular, there are still several codepaths here making legacy
provider address assumptions (in order to limit the scope of this change)
but I've made sure each one is doing something that relies on at least
one of the above changes not having been made yet.

* addrs: ProviderConfig interface

In a (very) few special situations in the main "terraform" package we need
to make runtime decisions about whether a provider config is absolute
or local.

We currently do that by exploiting the fact that AbsProviderConfig has
LocalProviderConfig nested inside of it and so in the local case we can
just ignore the wrapping AbsProviderConfig and use the embedded value.

In a future change we'll be moving away from that embedding and making
these two types distinct in order to represent that mapping between them
requires consulting a lookup table in the configuration, and so here we
introduce a new interface type ProviderConfig that can represent either
AbsProviderConfig or LocalProviderConfig decided dynamically at runtime.

This also includes the Config.ResolveAbsProviderAddr method that will
eventually be responsible for that local-to-absolute translation, so
that callers with access to the configuration can normalize to an
addrs.AbsProviderConfig given a non-nil addrs.ProviderConfig. That's
currently unused because existing callers are still relying on the
simplistic structural transform, but we'll switch them over in a later
commit.

* rename LocalType to LocalName

command/show: fix issue with show and aliased provider (#23848)
The formatter in `command/format/state.go`, when formatting a resource
with an aliased provider, was looking for a schema with the alias (ie,
test.foo), but the schemas are only listed by provider type (test).
Update the state formatter to lookup schemas by provider type only.

Some of the show tests (and a couple others) were not properly cleaning
up the created tmpdirs, so I fixed those. Also, the show tests are using
a statefile named `state.tfstate`, but were not passing that path to the
show command, so we were getting some false positives (a `show` command
that returns `no state` exits 0).

Martin Atkins 9a62ab3014 command: "terraform show" renders plans like "terraform plan"
During the Terraform 0.12 work we briefly had a partial update of the old
Terraform 0.11 (and prior) diff renderer that could work with the new
plan structure, but could produce only partial results.

We switched to the new plan implementation prior to release, but the
"terraform show" command was left calling into the old partial
implementation, and thus produced incomplete results when rendering a
saved plan.

Here we instead use the plan rendering logic from the "terraform plan"
command, making the output of both identical.

Unfortunately, due to the current backend architecture that logic lives
inside the local backend package, and it contains some business logic
around state and schema wrangling that would make it inappropriate to move
wholesale into the command/format package. To allow for a low-risk fix to
the "terraform show" output, here we avoid some more severe refactoring by
just exporting the rendering functionality in a way that allows the
"terraform show" command to call into it.

In future we'd like to move all of the code that actually writes to the
output into the "command" package so that the roles of these components
are better segregated, but that is too big a change to block fixing this
issue.

command/show (json): marshal the state snapshot included with the plan file (#21597)
* command/show: marshal the state snapshot from the planfile

The planfile contains a state snapshot with certain resources updated
(outputs and datasources). Previously `terraform show -json PLANFILE`
was using the current state instead of the state inside the plan as

This caused an issue when the state included a terraform_remote_state
datasource. The datasource's state gets refreshed - and therefore
upgraded to the current state version - during plan, but that won't
persist to state until apply.

We now require a provider to populate all of its defaults -- including

population of the computed "id" attribute during plan.

To make this logic a little easier, we also change the ApplyResourceChange

* command/jsonplan: return a filtered list of proposed 'after' attributes

Previously, proposed 'after' attributes were not being shown if the

`after` attributes, omitting those which are not wholly known.

The same was roughly true for after_unknown, and that structure is now
correctly populated. In the future we may choose to filter the
after_unknown structure to _only_ display unknown attributes, instead of
all attributes.

* command/jsonconfig: use a unique key for providers so that aliased

* command/jsonplan: properly display actions as strings according to the RFC,
instead of a plans.Action string.

a plans.Action string DeleteThenCreate should be displayed as ["delete",
"create"]

Tests have been updated to reflect this.

* command/jsonplan: return "null" for unknown list items.

The length of a list could be meaningful on its own, so we will turn
unknowns into "null". The same is less likely true for maps and objects,

Martin Atkins a3403f2766 terraform: Ugly huge change to weave in new State and Plan types
Due to how often the state and plan types are referenced throughout
Terraform, there isn't a great way to switch them out gradually. As a
consequence, this huge commit gets us from the old world to a _compilable_
new world, but still has a large number of known test failures due to
key functionality being stubbed out.

The stubs here are for anything that interacts with providers, since we
now need to do the follow-up work to similarly replace the old
terraform.ResourceProvider interface with its replacement in the new
"providers" package. That work, along with work to fix the remaining
failing tests, will follow in subsequent commits.

The aim here was to replace all references to terraform.State and its
downstream types with states.State, terraform.Plan with plans.Plan,
state.State with statemgr.State, and switch to the new implementations of
the state and plan file formats. However, due to the number of times those
types are used, this also ended up affecting numerous other parts of core
such as terraform.Hook, the backend.Backend interface, and most of the CLI
commands.

Just as with 5861dbf3fc49b19587a31816eb06f511ab861bb4 before, I apologize

Martin Atkins 8364383c35 Push plugin discovery down into command package
Previously we did plugin discovery in the main package, but as we move
towards versioned plugins we need more information available in order to
resolve plugins, so we move this responsibility into the command package
itself.

For the moment this is just preserving the existing behavior as long as
there are only internal and unversioned plugins present. This is the
final state for provisioners in 0.10, since we don't want to support
versioned provisioners yet. For providers this is just a checkpoint along
the way, since further work is required to apply version constraints from
configuration and support additional plugin search directories.

The automatic plugin discovery behavior is not desirable for tests because
